This book has become the occupant of my bookcase since two years ago, I guess. And I just finish reading it two days ago. Yeah.. shame on me. Really really shame on me!! ;p ;p. I found this book when I had a fieldwork to small city named Kediri. Not many things to do at night since it is a small city, so me and my friends decided to spent the night by visiting the largest book store. And I found it was a good decision. There was a sale and so many books sold at a very extremely cheap price!
This book is one of them and I was so excited finding this one. It is one of the book from the series "No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency". About few years before, maybe when I was still in college, there was a book I really like titled "The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency". The first book from this series. But then I had difficulty to find the rest of the series at the bookstore. At that time, I was still in college. Not have much money to buy the rest of the series at Amazon (yeahh.. I know it's a lame reason ;p). So, finding this one really really made my day at that time.Yeah at that time. But don't ask why then I just started reading it two years after ;p .
So what makes this book special? Just like the first book of this series, I found the story in this book (which apparently is the third book of the series) is simple but not cheesy and really one of those heartwarming stories. I was fascinated (like the first time I read this series) by how the author, Alexander McCall Smith brought the reader to feel Africa and give a strong characterizations to Mma Ramotswe, her fiancee JLB Matekoni and the smart lady Mma Makutsi.
I always love detective series. I am a big fan of Agatha Christie. And honestly the reason I bought this series at the first time just because I was attempted by the titled "... Detective Agency". But don't expect to find those complicated cases with dizzying solution in this book. This book just keep it simple. Reading this book just like you facing the normal daily life. What is showed in this book is just something real. You just can feel the case is real. The simplicity of this book will makes you smile. Just because it feels so simple, pure and just the way it is.
In the end, complicated plot brings curiosity. While the simple one become the "heartwarmer" ;p. Off course with a note, that simple one should be written beautifully :)
